Paphos Area Wild Flower Index

This site is for the use of persons looking at and wishing to identify and record flowers in the Paphos area of Cyprus. The entries are the result of a group of amateur enthusiasts walking, examining, recording and photographing flora in the area over a period of years./p>

All entries in this practical index have been seen and recorded by our group.Although the index specifically cover the Paphos area you may find them useful for other areas of Cyprus.

On this island we have a wealth of flora and, unbelievably, we can sometimes find 80 different plants in one hour. If we get more winter rain we may find species that are new to us and in some years we can find sixty plants on a walk in January. With the current amount of earth moving and building work going on, especially in coastal areas, who knows what we may find in the future. Some view the changes with dismay but they could prove exciting, or at least interesting - remember the poppies of Flanders.
