Ayios Photios General View.

Ayios Photios

Statos-Ayios Photios is a new village which replaced the villages of Statos and Ayios Photios, these having been devastated by earthquakes and land slides. The abandoned village of Ayios Photios lies below.

Getting there

From the Paphos to Limassol motorway take the exit to Agia Varvara. Bypass this village, drive through Axylou and Elediou then bypass Amargeti. Just after you bypass Pendalia, on the right, take the road signposted to Choulou. Soon you will be in Ayios Photios.

Looking around

Ayios Photios Church.

Park somewhere near the big old church with a bell tower then take a stroll around, a walk that can lead to a surprising amount of wild flowers. Opposite the road towards the church there is a track leading upwards to an interesting but boggy field which can yield many wild flowers. If you drive a few metres back up the hill you should see a couple of red-roofed buildings below and on the left. At the bottom of a short concrete road is a small restored church and at the back of this, in an orchard, is a relatively large schoolhouse.

You may return the way you came or alternatively continue along the road to Choulou thence Letimbou and up to the Paphos to Polis road.
