Instinjo
This village is part of a chain of ex-Turkish villages which extends up to Lyso.
Getting there
From the Paphos to Polis road take the turnoff to Simou. Before Simou is a turnoff to Sarama and Instinjo. Descend on the tarmac road to the valley floor and here turn right onto a vehicle track. Head through the quarry and Sarama then to Instinjo. At a fork in the road you will see the village. Turn right and head up what soon becomes a cobbled road to the vrisi opposite a corrugated iron mandra.

Looking around
At the T-junction just above the vrisi you can drive or walk to the right and towards the fenced-off mosque (with no minaret). Otherwise there is little sign of habitation apart from goats, sheep and pigs. If you drive to the right, past the mosque, you will arrive at the graveyard with one ornate, fenced-off grave and several depressions in the ground vaguely marked by small headstones. If instead you drive to the left you will pass a patch of heavy black clinker which is apparently the spoil from previous smelting operations for iron. Further still is the newly restored church of Agios Charalampous the restoration of which was allegedly funded by the locals. Behind the church is a cave in which people could worship clandestinely during times of religious persecution. Both are usually unlocked.
From Instinjo you may return the way you came or drive up past the mosque on a rough track to Zacharia and Melandra thence Lyso.
